Challah for Hunger

UMD Challah for Hunger is part of a national network of hunger-relief organizations. We make, braid, and sell bread every week with the help of student volunteers. All proceeds from bread sales are donated to our local partner D.C Central Kitchen and to MAZON.

Food Recovery Network

The Food Recovery Network is a network of student groups at UMD volunteering to recover the surplus food from the dining halls and sports games and donate it to hungry people in the DC area.

Terps Against Hunger

Terps Against Hunger organizes a large-scale food packaging event to benefit food insecure individuals and families in the greater DC-Metropolitan area. The meals we produce are a basic rice casserole that provides all of the necessary dietary components of a full meal. Students participate in an assembly-line production of these meals, to then be delivered to shelters, food pantries, and distributors, which ensure that our meals make it to those who need them.
